Our Mission

“Helping people to help themselves”

Valleys Steps was established as a well-being charity to help people to help themselves. We promote an understanding of why things are they way they are and show how we all can take steps to improving everyday well-being. At the heart of what we do is our passionate belief that everyone should have the opportunity to learn ways of managing the common psychological difficulties that we all face at times in life such as stress, low mood and anxiety.

We are proud that our courses are evidence-based and are delivered to the highest possible standard. Our courses are welcoming. They are open to everyone, are free of charge and don’t require discussion of personal problems. Anyone can benefit not only those of us who might be struggling more at the moment. We value the work of other organisations and aim to signpost people to the best option for them.

Mindfulness Courses

Mindfulness is about much more than meditation. Mindfulness is a way of being that can be developed.  It can help us relate differently to our experience and improve anxiety, depression and many other emotional and physical health concerns. It can increase our wellbeing through deepening our appreciation of our lives.

Stress Control Courses

Stress Control is a course that teaches skills that can be used to help manage stress. It is based on a therapy called CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and can be useful for people who want to learn more about issues such as low mood, anxiety, low self-confidence and other stress-related problems.
